From this year a lot of people will no longer be entitled to Child Benefits.  But, if you are a new mum, just because your partner earns over the current limit of £50,000 a year, does not mean you should not claim.

Claiming for Child Benefit means the years for which you qualify for Child Benefit, if it were not for the income restriction, count towards your State Pension.

So in this Alice in Wonderland world, you fill out the form as if you are claiming the Benefit.  Then near the end of the form you will be asked if you are filling out the form not to get the Benefit but just to keep your pension rights.
