National Minimum Wage

Although in April 2016 the National Minimum Wage was replaced for many by the National Living Wage of £7.20 per hour, the National Minimum Wage is still relevant for workers under 25 and apprentices.

From 1 October 2016 the following rates apply:

Year Aged 21 to 24 Aged 18 to 20 Under 18 Apprentice*
2016- 17  Rate £6.95

£0.25 per hour increase

£5.55

£0.25 per hour increase

£4.00

£0.13 per hour increase

£3.40

£0.10 per hour increase

 

Please be aware that when an employee turns 18, 21 or 25 their pay will increase on that date.
